News MIIS GLOBE and Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA) Team Up on Global Business Practices SurveyManaging and planning strategies for implementing global business imperatives at the local level is one of the most important issues facing organizations today. The Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA) and the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS), with feedback from the World Bank, have teamed up to create a survey exploring issues relevant to global business. LISA is one of the premier organizations in the localization community, a service industry that has developed to adapt products (especially IT applications) so that they are multilingual and suitable for foreign target markets. This industry has been rapidly expanding as service providers improve their value-added in linguistic quality and technology solutions. Now MIIS and LISA seek to study the possibility of new frontiers in competitive emphasis for localization vendors, especially in regards to business services such as management consulting, market research and/or in-country implementation services. One purpose of this survey is to examine the potential compatibility of these business services with localization vendors’ existing portfolio of translation/interpretation and technology services.
